If I had to put a number of the percentage of time I felt the zoom on this lens was adequate (as opposed to inadequate), I’d say at least 90% of the time, this lens did the job. In this scheme, the second camera (which is my old Canon EOS 60D mated with a dedicated L-series telephoto lens) handles my wildlife or other distant-subject photography needs. This comprises some additional image processing and mechanisms on the lens itself, which help to correct some degree of camera shake that results in blurry photos.

For reasons that I’ll get into later in the article, this Sony lens does have limitations with its zoom range since it doesn’t skimp on image quality. At F8, sharpness remains excellent across the image area. At F11, some diffraction starts to appear, although you must pixel-peep to see it. At F16, the softness is more noticeable, although, to my eyes, it's maybe a bit less noticeable than it was at 24mm and F16. In any event, the lens delivers outstanding performance at F4-F8 and is completely usable at F11 and slightly beyond. 50mm

Indeed, this is a very capable all-in-one lens that performs well in over 90% of the situations that I face in my hikes and in my general travels. Of course, if I really wanted exposures longer than 1/5th of a second or even 1/4th of a second, then it probably exceeds my ability to hold still for that long without inducing camera shake effects. This 0.3-second long-exposure photo of Boulder Falls was taken without a tripod, but I did lean on a tree for some help

This 24-105 is ultra sharp at every setting everywhere in the image. Yes, it's better than the ZEISS lenses.

The Sony SEL24105G FE 24-105mm f/4 OSS G Lens mated with our Sony Alpha 7 III mirrorless full-frame camera bodyIts E-mount frame means that it mates with our Sony Alpha 7 III Mirrorless Camera body or any other Sony camera body with this mounting frame or compatibility. I'd forget about the f/2.8, unless you are the sort of guy who likes to flaunt his fancy lenses more than he likes to show off great photos. The 2.8 might be a hair sharper in the corners at 2.8 in the lab, but the real-world photos of the 24-105 are at least as good when you add stabilization and the better zoom range.

Granted, my experiences haven’t brought me to notice image distortions as well as more masterful digital photographers (especially those who spend a lot of time postprocessing RAW format images in Lightroom).Filters last a lifetime, so you may as well get the best since the Hoya HD3 stays cleaner than the others and will outlast this lens — and maybe you! Sure, there's the mighty Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM, but price-wise, it's beyond the reach of most users. The Zeiss FE 24-70mm f/4 OSS From Sony lens literature) Sony Electronics, a worldwide leader in digital imaging and the world's largest image sensor manufacturer, has introduced the latest addition to their expanding full-frame E-mount lens lineup, the FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS Standard Zoom (model SEL24105G).
