Husband and wife duo Luke and Caroline Staton joined the rest of the nation baking bread during lockdown - which has evolved into a successful business. In each chapter I start with something really easy - as the sponge cake chapter goes on the cakes get more difficult.

Keen to share that learning the book for children is intended to help build their baking confidence and develop their skill set by advising youngsters of their progress. Caroline bakes around 125 bagels a day, plus 25 beetroot buns for Wild and Wild’s pink rainbow vegan burger. Her impeccable timing means that as she rolls out the final batch of dough, the first is ready to be shaped, boiled and baked. When lockdown came everyone was baking, so I started to share a recipe every day, just different recipes from what I had and what I had baked in the cafe.A story about stressful lives and new beginnings, with a delicious mash up of mystery, drama and romance, set in the gorgeous Northumberland scenery. It was followed by Forget Me Not, a book for young adults which has its roots in a family tragedy - the death of Caroline's sister Joanne, 18, from an asthma attack. My father has Alzheimer’s and I wanted to spend more time with him and also I wanted to follow my other passion, travel. I’d been a project manager in the commercial sector for 20 years, but reaching 40 made me rethink my career,” explains Caroline.
