The cost of a piercing depends on your location and who you visit. It’s always worth spending the extra few pounds to save time and money in the long run should your piercing become inflamed or infected due to an improper piercing technique. If you're new to nose piercings, it’s important to know that choosing a style is only the first part. Next, you’ll want to learn how to understand nose ring sizes. A bigger-sized gauge will not go through your piercing, and a thinner gauge ring will look unsightly with ample space around it. Nose ring gauge sizes apply to all types of nose ring styles.

Segment nose rings are a great option for those who want a more flexible style. They're made up of several segments that are held together by small, hidden clasps. This unique design allows the ring to bend and move with your nose, making it much more comfortable to wear than other hoops (and easier to insert yourself!). Circular Nose Ring: Usually an incomplete circle with small balls to the end, to hold it in place. Similarly, you can use a seamless ring which does not have small balls on the ends. L-shaped stud (a single stud that is curved at the end to give it an L shape to hook into the nostril) Nostril Screw Stud: A straight stud with a semi-circular end that is placed at a right angle to the straight pin.

Here are answers to some of the questions you may still have about finding the perfect nose ring size. What size is a normal nose ring? Piercers usually use an 18- or 20-gauge needle for nose ring piercings. An 8 mm and 10 mm nose hoop are the most common sizes. However, your size might differ depending on how high your piercing is placed. Which is bigger 18 or 20 gauge nose ring? This nose ring style gets its name from its shape, with a straight post and a 90-degree angle that fits snugly against the inside of the nostril. The prongs hold the jewelry in place, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy an active lifestyle. Twist Prong

Physical jewelry stores typically have a gauge and diameter chart. If the jewelry fits comfortably, use the chart to determine your size. Use a ruler or caliper The 22 gauge size is the thinnest size available for nose rings, making it ideal for those looking for a more delicate and subtle look. It's also a great option for those getting their nose pierced for the first time, as the ring's thinness will make the healing process much easier. 20 Gauge Tongue bars have two main sizing aspects for you to take into consideration: the gauge and the size (both discussed above). . The standard gauge for a tongue bar is 1.6mm and all of our tongue bars have the standard gauge of 1.6mm. To measure the length, measure your nostril, not just the front. (or ask the piercer to do so if it seems they’re not measuring correctly). If measuring yourself at home, loop the string or measuring tape around your nostril and keep it snug but not too tight. Now that you (hopefully) know the type of stud you’re looking for, it’s time to settle on a hoop style. You’ll find plenty of variations these days, but here are the three most common. Seamless When it comes to nose piercings, choosing the right type of nose ring is just as important as getting the perfect fit. Different styles can affect the size you'll need, as they fit differently depending on the shape of your nose and the piercing location. The 'size' (or 'length') refers to the distance between the two balls (see the 'Barbell' illustration above). Whilst you are likely to only find sizes 12mm and 14mm in the high street shops, many of our own tongue bars are available in sizes as low as 6mm, right through to 20mm and beyond. This means no more excess bar showing! Simply choose your desired size by selecting from the 'Size' drop-down box.
