Either way, a single Wraithlord can turn the tide of battle for the Craftworld Aeldari; the legends of the fallen heroes within continuing to grow even in death. Wraithknights are often deployed on Crone Worlds at the forefront of quests for new Spirit Stones, which often involve dangerous encounters with Daemons and other nightmarish denizens. However as the End Times approach for the Eldar and their race dies faster then it can give birth, fewer and fewer twins are born upon each Craftworld. Many Wraithknight pilots are recruited from Revenant Titan helmsmen who have lost their twin in battle and driven to regain their kinship whatever the cost, give themselves over to the life of a Wraithknight pilot. Even more unsettling is that it is rumored that some Craftworld councils have removed the option of choice for such individuals. [1] Skathach Wraithknight They deploy a combination of powerful psykers who read the skeins of fate to predict the outcome of combat, soldiers who have walked martial paths that grant them skills beyond human ken, hardy walking constructs piloted by the souls of long-dead warriors, and lightning-fast anti-gravity bikes and tanks. Boon: The secondaries I think are where this codex is going to struggle the most competitively. This is extra hard because I think secondaries are more important now than ever with the increased scoring on primary vs last year (all primaries are capable of netting 63 points vs 60 previously, one less Domination mission). The army just won’t have the throw-away action units many have for reliable secondaries like RND and doesn’t want to be over-extended for things like Engage. Psychic Interrogation is an extremely enticing secondary, but it also requires concessions in list construction or on table play that could be hamstringing the army. Without a strong reliable option out of the codex, I think the army will be forced to select against the opponent’s army which rarely leaves good options in competitive play.

Let’s take a hypothetical Dreadnought versus Wraithlord comparison. As I said, they cost about the same overall and are armed with similar weapons- two Bright Lances vs Fist + Twin Lascannon is an obvious comparison, but there are plenty of other loadouts that work out to be pretty similar as well, so I think the juxtaposition is very apt. Now, right out of the gates, the Wraithlord has one higher toughness- that makes it not only resistant to small arms (which, having only a 3+ save on both models, is a nontrivial factor) but also to Autocannons, Plasma weapons, Missile Launchers, and many others. However, let’s set that aside and look at the issue of the degrading profile itself. Before making a roll of any of the types shown above for a unit with the Strands of Fate ability, if any of your retained dice have a result corresponding with that type of roll (as shown above) and have not been used to manipulate a roll this battle round, you can manipulate that roll. If you do so:While different Aeldari armies might choose to focus on specific aspects of the combat arts, they have a host of iconic units at their disposal. These are likely to be some of your mainstays. Farseer Two Eldar-specific points here. YNNARI is now essentially a selection, and indeed all the Named Characters from the Reborn have the Asuryani keyword, so your starting point for a list with them is as a special flavour of Craftworlds (though there’s some depths we’ll look at in their article).

Piercing Strikes : 15pt upgrade on Banshees for +1D on the Exarch. Exceptional with mirrorswords, where it turns the model into a mini-Succubus with 10A at S4 AP-3 D2, all at +1 to wound on the charge. In many ways, the Wraithknights embody the cyclical symbols of the Aeldari, the curving discs of the Aeldari Lexicon that display a portion of death within life and a portion of life within death. Aeldari warriors emulate the various warlike aspects of Khaela Mensha Khaine in battle, but each Craftworld holds a terrible secret in its heart. There is a chamber which contains an Avatar of Khaine, a molten metal statue which contains a still-living shard of the defeated warrior god. In times of war, this shard is awakened and set aflame. This colossus of battle bestrides the battlefield, a living god that scythes down its foes by the score. Wraithlord To this day, there remain just a small number of mortal warriors able to fight for Iyanden. Consequently, those living few are accompanied to battle by a large number of the souls of the dead, and it is not uncommon to see vast armies of Ghost Warriors striding to war at their behest.I long to examine a wraith-construct with the Spirit Stone still intact. Alas, I have studied only fragments of an empty shell and nothing more. It is lifeless and full of mystery. I very much doubt we can understand such dangerous technology with our conventional understanding. In the wrong hands, one can only imagine the danger it presents to Mankind." I probably wouldn’t lay any money on seeing Wraithlords jump up to the top tables this coming season, but I don’t think I’d bet against it, either- they have a lot of things going for them and it’s very possible that we’ll see some sort of shift in the meta or breakthrough list that will push them into the spotlight. They’re definitely one of the many units in the Craftworlds codex that you should keep an eye on, because it’s very possible that they will make their presence known in a big way at some point in the future- and maybe you’ll even use them in a list of your own. Corsair Voidscarred give access to the stranger weirdos from the new kit, and probably end up most interesting for Drukhari. There’s plenty of guidance on how to paint your chosen subfaction, as well as fascinating lore on their histories, victories, and defeats.

Though much of Aeldari history is so old as to have become myth, there are more recent events in which the various craftworlds have been known to deploy their dreaded Ghost Warriors: As a means of calming their tempestuous emotions and keeping their ancient enemy at bay, most Aeldari devote themselves to specialised Paths, on which they hone one skill, sometimes to the point of obsession. Aspect Warriors are the Aeldari who walk the martial paths. Each Aspect Shrine is built around the teachings of a Phoenix Lord, legendary figures inspired by the various ways the Aeldari god of War, Khaela Mensa Khaine, engaged in battle. Meanwhile, the Wraithknight grapples with tanks or monsters, or blasts apart a fortress wall so that the smaller wraith-constructs can cause havoc inside. If the stone can be recovered, it is then customary for it to be taken into one of the craftworld's bio-domes, where the soul is released into the Infinity Circuit -- the Asuryani's source of eldritch psychic energy, a place of rest, and sanctuary from the Warp.

Toughness (this is HUGE. The difference between t7 and t8 is MASSIVE — all str 4 weapons are now doing half as much damage. 25% damage from str 8 weapons like melta and OC plasma) However, this is by no means the cessation of an Asuryani's contribution to war, as under desperate conditions, an adroit Seer can be forced to withdraw a spirit from the Infinity Circuit and into a Spirit Stone once again. Eternal Labyrinth Enchantment Many sought the Goddess' blessing. Few survived the Labyrinth to receive it. For the sash and leg ribbon, literally just carefully paint with thinned Blood Angels Red Contrast. On top of that, you’ll get all you need to run more diverse armies than ever before, with combined hosts of Asuryani, Ynnari, and Harlequins. The Aeldari have always been a multifaceted race, but now they’re bringing their full strength to bear and you can demonstrate that on the tabletop like never before.

Runes of Fate powers are going to be the engine that drives Craftworld lists, so kind of same as it ever was. They can all affect CRAFTWORLD CORE or CRAFTWORLD CHARACTER units, which makes them broader than some similar options elsewhere, and all have a quirky new mechanic where they have a base range of 18”, and on a high cast (the threshold varies) they either go up to 24” range, or get more powerful, in the case of Mind War . Ulthwe and Biel-Tan stand out as the best competitive options among the named Craftworlds, with Alaitoc maybe getting there as well. If that type of roll involves more than one D6 (e.g. a Psychic test), treat one of those dice as an unmodified roll of 6 (do not roll that dice), then roll any other dice and add up the results as normal.Other groups of Aeldari cling to existence, including the Harlequins – who travel the Webway (an ancient network of safe* tunnels through the warp) acting as diplomats, performers, and mercenaries, and the Ynnari – who worship the half-reborn god of death as a means to finally thwart Slaanesh and recapture the Aeldari souls it ate during the Fall. Also, for anyone who read the Eldritch Omens review, it looks like some Aspect equipment got some nerfs after that went to print, with the most notable changes being that Banshee Masks only work when you charge (and don’t apply -1A), Dragon fusion guns are just d6+2 damage now and don’t boost to d6+4, and death spinners don’t auto-hit. Bear that in mind while looking at the relevant units. Games Workshop have been trying to make a Fortification really matter for ages, and they’ve finally succeeded – the Webway Gate looks genuinely incredible, and is potentially faction-defining. The rules for it were essentially entirely previewed on WarCom, and at the 80pts price tag it costs you it’s spectacular.
