Here’s a finished shot, and then a comparison to some tanks that have been rusting underwater for a few decades. For a broken, patchy effect apply to small areas/patches at a time and allow to dry – more in some areas, less in others.

Replace the lid quickly during use to prevent the liquid from evaporating or decant what you need to use for a job into a separate smaller pot/container with a lid.Dirty Down rust paint is the same product as the Modelmates Normal Rust Effect shown in the review, just re-branded as Dirty Down. Thoroughly stir the mixture and ensure that solids on the bottom of the pot are fully mixed into the liquid.

Its very important to thoroughly shake the pot with the ball bearings rattling before each and every use. A single brush stroke of our normal rust effect has been painted on the right side of the line to allow comparison between yellow rust and normal rust. The paint is spraying easily with no clogging or other issues, and the early colour impression looks, well, rusty! Once everything had been sprayed within an inch of its life (there’s plenty more that I didn’t record!
