Description

As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The Makita DHS680 cordless saw has an efficient brushless motor that offers several advantages over brushed motors. TBH the Evolution rails work with the Makita saws as well - not quite as well finished as the Mak rails, and you can't use them together (unlike the Festool and Makita rails I use for my plunge saws), but they are a lot cheaper. You can extend this to a 3 year warranty for machines by registering your product here within 30 days of purchase (excludes petrol-powered machines, production tools, air tools and air compressors).

This product carries a full 3 year manufacturers warranty covering both faulty materials and faulty workmanship, it does not cover general wear and tear or damage, batteries, blades, bulbs and other consumables. The cast alloy base is solid and accurately made, as are the upper and lower blade guards, giving a feeling that this tool is made for a long service life. Dust collection via the optional vac port with a vacuum extractor is very efficient where you have access to mains power for the extractor. This Makita also boasts an automatic speed function that regulates the blade speed according to load and the little blower aimed at the kerf near the built-in LED light helps clear the cut line.We used it on rough sawn softwood, hardwood and manmade boards and it was competent and easy – just like a professional tool should be. A 24 tooth TCT thin kerf blade fitted as standard reduces cutting friction to a minimum and gives maximum battery life. Boasting a brand new brushless motor and some new in-built features, the DHS680 looks set to become one of the most popular cordless circular saws on the market. Product dimensions are stated with a battery / batteries, if they affect the overall dimensions of the product. Frankly I think you'd be better off saving the money (on the guide rail and adaptor) and making yourself a saw guide from MDF and softwood instead, at least for a one-off.Another little recommend - if you need blades for the DHS680, switch to DW Extreme blades - in my experience they are better than the Mak blades (more durable, less likely to loose teeth if you hit metal, cut smoother, etc). You would be a hard one to please if you weren’t impressed with this saw when you took it out of the excellent stackable kitbox. Single lever depth control provides a maximum cut of up to 57mm and this saw is capable of bevel cuts up to 50°. From the off the tool feels comfortable in the hand with well-designed rubberized grippy areas and with just enough weight to feel substantial, without feeling like a drain on the muscles by the end of the day.
