And embrace the world of Jack once – or many times – more with our complete selection of DVDs and Blu-rays, encompassing both entries in the franchise. There’s other similar transgressions for which he just seems to get a free pass because he’s apparently trusting, and I even think he was said to have “kind eyes”. Though somewhat convoluted, the plot is well conceived and the large cast supports Cruise's commanding presence nicely. Ritchson looks like he can play the drifter type, and as he’s almost 40, he’s heading towards middle age where you can’t figure out what you want in life. Five people are targeted by a sniper in broad daylight, and it’s up to Detective Emerson to find out who did it. The law has its limits, but Reacher does not when his fight for the truth puts him against an unexpected enemy with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.Richard Jenkins and Robert Duvall do their usual excellent work, though it is Werner Herzog as a wildly over-the-top villain who makes things positively gleeful in his few scenes. I know there’s numerous novels which have been released, but I prefer to wait for big or small-screen adaptations of novels. To redress the balance, our lead is now Alan Ritchson, who I don’t remember from anything else particularly, and nothing stands out for me on IMDB. For example, it also includes a daft scene set in in a bar, where drinks and car keys are left unattended on a table for a while. Turning up in Margave, Georgia, Jack doesn’t even carry a bag with him, but his first issue is to address a moron who’s hassling his girlfriend.

Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections—they may also appear in recommendations and other places. When retired Military Police Officer Jack Reacher is arrested for a murder he did not commit, he finds himself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy full of dirty cops, shady businessmen and scheming politicians.

Even then, unless I wasn’t following it properly, the plot seems to chop and change, and doesn’t have an awful lot of coherence. Taking up the reins of his predecessor Christopher McQuarrie, Edward Zwick finds himself in the director’s chair and takes the viewer on an unforgettable ride.

There was some sniping among fans that Cruise bears no resemblance to Child's Reacher, a burly, shadowy former army policeman who has moved into the private investigator business--but mostly for Cruise himself. When an unspeakable crime is committed, all evidence points to the suspect in custody who offers up a single note in defence: "Get Jack Reacher! Our man can be very chatty when he wants to be, so it’s a shame there’s no subtitles on the preview I watched, since when he does talk, he can talk ten-to-the-dozen, and I had to rewind the programme a bit to repeat those scenes. As for our hero who tries to act all ‘Miss Marple’ in his occasionally methodical pursuit of the truth, at one point, he goes to use a car with the full knowledge of the police, even though earlier on we were told they couldn’t find any records of him, including a driving licence, since he lives his life off-grid.

Boasting all the amazing action set-pieces introduced in the first film entry, this sequel goes far and beyond to live up to the now-iconic name of Jack Reacher. Plus, the police have to put zip ties on his wrists because cuffs don’t fit him as he’s a Billy Big-Hands. There are several sequences that play brilliantly in the context of Reacher's skill as a killing machine on his own.r r r r From The New York Times bestselling author Lee Child comes one of the most compelling heroes to step from novel to screen - ex-military investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise).
