I just finished a roll of Ultramax and got similar punchy colors from it (and my photos were just down the street from yours, so probably same daylight and same lab). Instead, I enjoyed the convenience of popping a roll into a camera, dropping it off at the lab, and getting all my scans or prints a few hours later. Kodak Ultramax 35mm film is a versatile colour negative film suitable for a variety of photography situations. Kodak ColorPlus, Kodak Gold, Ultra, Ultramax, Ektar, Pro Image 100, Portra, 35mm and 120 medium format camera film. There’s also delicate colour nuance that consumer films can’t replicate; Portra and certain slide films have no rivals in rendering even the slightest skin pigmentation detail in a soft, flattering manner that other emulsions would gloss over.

Yes the remjet layer can be difficult, but the home development kits for this are now really good and I love the cinematic look that these films can give. In all of these situations and many more, Ultramax has made exceptional photos, its potential only limited by my ability. If you spend 11€ for a role of Ultramax 400 and maybe the same for development but you save 1100€ on your camera since analog cameras are cheap compared to digital ones you can shot 50 roles before you spend the same money as for digital. Keep an eye on the camera’s light meter, or use an external light meter if your camera doesn’t have one. I also had some issues with the casts appearing in certain image areas after being balanced out in others. You can read more about Kodak UltraMax here, and read a comparison of UltraMax and Fuji Superia here.

One of the popular lines of film that Kodak relied on for a major part of their revenue was the Kodak Gold line of negative films, including Gold 400. Like most Kodak, its warm tones make it good portrait film and it’s strong saturation works well for landscapes as sell.

The Kodak UltraMax 400 is known for being Kodak’s general-purpose film for reliable colour and tone reproduction. As a predominantly black and white film shooter, when I shoot color, I love the colors to feel exaggerated. I’ve also wished that Kodak would take Ultramax 400 and create an Ultramax 100 version with the same color rendition of the 400 but with finer grain that goes along with a 100 speed film. I developed the rolls of Kodak UltraMax and Kodak Gold separately (obviously, because one roll was pushed one stop).

He does not shoot film that much, and rather than have him discouraged, I know he will get photographs he will like. Still, I like this image, and I wanted to share the results you can get with UltraMax when shot or developed in less-than-ideal conditions. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. I’d be more likely to use a medium format camera loaded with Portra, and since Ultramax doesn’t come in medium format, well, that’s that. An exception to this rule may be skin tones, which appear natural in most conditions (whereas building materials, the sky, and certain natural textures will suffer).Another negative film Kodak Ektar was also reviewed with the Fuji GSW690iii in the Combinations series.
