Bredon Hill Hoard will stay in the county

A HOARD of Roman coins discovered on Bredon Hill will stay in the county after Museums Worcestershire raised £9,000 in an appeal to secure the find in the county where it was discovered.

The collection of about 4,000 coins, found on Bredon Hill in June last year, is the largest haul of treasure ever found in the county. Read more

PARENT power has meant that a village school’s new £13,000 outdoor learning space has cost only half what it would have without their help.

Crowds watch as 200-year-old churchyard tree gets the chop

CROWDS of villagers gathered in Little Comberton on Wednesday as an historic cedar in St Peter’s Churchyard was finally given the chop.

A team of experts spent the day felling the 80-foot high tree which had been deemed dangerous to both members of the public and the church building after several large boughs had fallen off.

A large quantity of the wood is being sold to help defray the cost of the felling operation, though some is being kept and being turned into something appropriate to remember the tree by.

Eckington could receive thousands of pounds for village organisations

A BREDON Hill village will benefit from thousands of pounds thanks to Wychavon District Council’s New Homes Bonus Fund.

Eckington Parish Council discovered it could receive £12,179 from Wychavon to help organisations, including the village hall, the recreation centre, Eckington Football Club, junior football and cricket club, the Scouts, the Women’s Institute and the Thursday Club. Read more
