Ava (h): she loves star wars, secretly nerdy, one of the most selfless h's i've ever read, is the guardian of her six-year-old brother, and just overall STRONG. Knox , strong boy with a really really tragic past again, and who is a really bad character but since other characters are worse he looks nice in front of them! I think it's so hard to have such a serious plot and weave a romance into it but Ilsa Madden-Mills pulled it off, and the overall result was great and the ending made perfect sense. However, a note found at the bottom of her locker on the first day seems to indicate she might have an ally in the midst of the enemy battlefield.Ava is our main character and this book starts out with her waking up in the woods after being sexually assaulted at a party. i didn't mind this as much because the h didn't feel hurt and she actually made fun of him when she told him. This author delivered more than a romance, it had all the feels, all the angst, everything us book lovers like to encounter in our books. I don’t enjoy heavy topics with my romance but when the story is so well written and the themes so thoughtfully explored, I want to thank the author wholeheartedly. honestly, reading Knox's character just made me depressed just because guys like him are super-duper rare in real life and i've said this before and i'll say it again: there's plenty of fish in the sea but there's also more trash sooo.

The story was so much more than that though, and it still delivered the angst but also a lot of emotions. The way the students were treating Ava was unfair and made me angry for her, like I was wanting to throw my fists at anyone who wanted to mess with Ava! Knox had this scar on his face and when I read about it for the first time I wanted to adorn his face with little kisses over that scar and the first thing Ava did when he got with Knox was kiss him exactly there 🥺🥺 I Can't. The story was ok, enemies to lovers - although it wasn't hard to figure out who the letter came from.Ava’s tenacity and hope for the future shines out of her spirit, a noticeable light in a sea of jaded elitism. Years ago I should have listened when you said this type of love could end our friendship — make things weird. The book is angling to show us how girls who speak out against the actions of football players can be shunned and blamed.
