Olympic fever hits Bredon

AN Olympic fun day – including a ‘torch procession’ and ‘opening ceremony’ – is being held in Bredon on Sunday, July 15.

The torch procession leaves Bredon Hancock’s School at 11.30am, arriving at the village playing fields in time for an opening ceremony. The event runs until 4pm with various sports including football, rugby and tennis, as well as drumming, art competitions and cake decorating, all on an Olympic theme.

Malcolm Dunn, of the Bredon Community Play & Recreation Committee, which is organising the event, said: “We would love as many people as possible to join the ‘torch procession’ so do join us at the school with your torch, flag or drum.

“We also have two great competitions to get involved with – cake decorating (Olympic theme) and active arts (Olympic or Worcestershire themes).”

Details on how to enter can be found in local shops, schools, community groups, at bredonplays.co.uk or by e-mailing bredon@live.co.uk.

It costs £1 to enter each competition and everyone is welcome to join in a fun-filled afternoon.

“There is a wide range of activities,” added Mr Dunn. “There should be something for everyone.”
