OLDER people living around Bredon Hill are being offered support to help them remain independent.
Rooftop Housing Group’s Independence at Home service offers help and advice on any aspect of income, including pension, welfare benefits and equity release.
The service also offers guidance on the selection, supply and fitting of specialist equipment like grab rails, stair lifts or other aids. In addition, it is able to put in place help with shopping, gardening, cleaning and DIY assistance, along with practical advice on home security and personal safety.
A Bredon Hill View reporter bumped into Philippa Latham, Rooftop’s Development Worker – Older People’s Services, while she was on her visits in Eckington.
Philippa said: “We offer a wide range of activities where you can make new friends, from gentle exercise to trips to the seaside, gardening clubs, learning new skills and more. Just a reassuring chat and friendly face.
“We all have differing needs so support is tailored to suit each person. Life has its ups and downs so the service can be used as much or as little as required and you remain in full control at all times.
“Home is where the heart is. It’s where you feel safe and secure. It’s the place you fill with memories and the place where you belong. Living independently in your own home is what most of us aspire to.
“You may have a relative, a friend or a neighbour in this position. The Independence at Home service offers the extra support, advice and encouragement that makes a positive difference to lives.”
